Strategic Plan

The Foundation is convinced that targeting education and empowerment of the adolescents, especially girls, at an early age, builds a strong base for enhancing employability and curtails potential wastage of the human capital in Uganda at a right moment.

Education, as well as being an end, is significant means to getting a decent job, especially for young people. More so, lifelong learning is indispensable to keep up with the changing skills needed for management of a dynamic socio-economic environment and the evolving employment or labour market.

Therefore, the main thrust of the program is to help the adolescent girls acquire a variety of competencies that should improve their personal development and access wider choices for career development required to promote employability, increase productivity, and eventually secure chances for better livelihood in the future. To achieve our goal, we commit to build entrepreneurship and vocational capacity of parents and guardians to generate more income to aid furtherance of quality education and career aspirations of their children.

Accordingly, the Foundation has adopted a Strategic Plan for 2024 -2030 that covers three program areas:

Program 1: Nightingale Scholarships

Provision of complementary financial support to enable the vulnerable female candidates to complete a specific level of formal education; and ensure continuity of best performing beneficiaries to the next level of education in high performing schools.  

  • a) 60 girls complete Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).
  • b) 16 girls from (a) continue from Senior 1 to Senior 4 – to complete Ordinary level of secondary education (O level).
  • c) 32 girls complete senior 4.
  • d) 10 girls from (c), continue to Senior 5 and 6 – to complete Advanced level secondary education (A level).
  • Book Loan Scheme as part of Education Support: Key learning materials or books will be loaned and or given to the candidates each academic year. Books will include dictionary, question banks, and geometry sets.

Program 2: Empowering Young Minds

The Foundation will conduct programmes to equip adolescents in and out of school with knowledge and skills to unleash their potential and transform into confident, self-esteemed, mentally stable, self-reliant and basic information technology and computer literate. The envisaged level of beneficiaries for the plan period is as indicated:

  • 50 youths in and outside of school participate in the annual empowerment programme.
  • 50 candidates participate in counselling seminar on career guidance and examination preparation .
  • A total of 10 youth (boys and girls) will acquire the requisite vocational skills and engage in business to generate income needed to address their specific needs ranging from education to self-reliance. 

Program 3: Enhanced Income for Parents/ Guardians (EI4P)

  • The Program is designed to pursue several activities that enhance the capacity of parents and guardians to increase their business returns and ability to support quality education for their children.
  • The scope and frequency of program will depend on the specific entrepreneurship needs from the P/G and availability of funding.
  • At lease 40 entrepreneurs (men and women), will acquire knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship development during period 2024- 2030.
